Muddy River Outdoors was founded with a passion for adventure and a commitment to crafting high-quality, innovative products that help people explore the great outdoors. The journey began with Rob Reeve, who had always been inspired by the simplicity and rugged beauty of nature. In 2014, Rob founded a company driven by an idea sparked while camping with his scouts. Inspired by a teardrop trailer, Rob thought, "I can build that," and what began as a personal project in his garage soon blossomed into a growing business.
The name "Muddy River" reflects Rob’s deep connection to the outdoors. It comes from his love of fishing on the banks of the Missouri River, where the muddy waters and wild, untamed landscape shaped his sense of adventure. This name symbolizes the rugged spirit that has always been at the heart of our company—one that thrives on exploration, simplicity, and resilience.
For several years, Muddy River Manufacturing earned a reputation for craftsmanship and a connection with the outdoor community. In 2021, Muddy River entered a new chapter by merging its intellectual property into a new entity—Hiker Industries. This marked a significant turning point, one that allowed the company to reimagine its future.
The transition to Muddy River Outdoors signified a broader vision. With Rob Tate and two additional partners, each bringing their own expertise in manufacturing, product design, and outdoor adventure, Muddy River refocused its efforts to create new products, including the camper topper—designed to take outdoor exploration to the next level. This new direction reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and high-performance outdoor products.
